World Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day (MSME Day), held annually on 27 June, is an important opportunity to celebrate the enterprising women and men who are the lifeblood of our communities. Their enterprising spirits are vital for Australia’s economy and our future prosperity.

MSME Day 2025

Our theme for 2025 is ‘helping small biz thrive’

It highlights the important contributions made by our 2.5 million small businesses. They employ 5.36 million people – 42% of private sector jobs – and generate 33% of GDP. This is a vital contribution to Australia’s prosperity, livelihoods, and our economic and community wellbeing, through the resilience and drive of small and family business people.

It reinforces the need for practical policy action and greater attention to creating an ecosystem that can improve prospects for small business success and resilience.
