A Small Business Compensation Assistance Service is to be administered by the ASBFEO, to help small businesses navigate the Compensation for Detriment caused by Defective Administration (CDDA) scheme as it relates to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
If you feel you have suffered a loss due to potential defective administration by the ATO, you should contact us. We will be able to assist with:
- details of the ATO’s CDDA processes, including timeframes, supporting evidence and the application process
- procedures for requesting a review of a decision under the CDDA scheme.
The Ombudsman is empowered to provide clear information about the process - not formal legal advice - as part of this service to small business owners. This is consistent with maintaining the independent character of the ASBFEO and ensures the assistance provided through this new service complements the existing advocacy and assistance functions.
